    News from the JPHS:

    The next meeting of the JPHS is being planned for Saturday, April 25th in Murray. The officers, though, are monitoring the public health situation and information coming from the CDC (Center for Disease Control) and state governments. Keep checking in case this meeting has to be cancelled or for more information in case the meeting can be held. Some news about the Journal!  Back issues of the Journal have been digitized.     JPHS to meet on Saturday, March 7th

    The next meeting of the Jackson Purchase Historical Society will take place on Saturday, March 7th at the Hotel Metropolitan at 724 Oscar Cross Ave in Paducah, Kentucky, beginning at 10:30 am. The meeting will feature Christopher L. Thornock, an archaeologist and the Heritage Program Manager at Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. The topic will be “African-American Lives and Landscapes on the Lower Tennessee River.” The African American heritage of the southern United States is rich and much more complex than the commonly discussed topics of plantation slavery and the civil rights movement.
