Stories of Interest from the Hickman Courier from July 21, 1876 The Hickman City Council met on July 18thto withdraw charges against the city’s wharfmaster after charges against him were proven unjust. An order was issued by the Council to show that $82.50 was collected, and fully accounted for, by the wharfmaster. A resolution was passed suggesting the “local editor of the Hickman Courier that good taste should restrain him from hazarding unsolicited advice.” The Council also passed a motion to elect a Councilman to replace J. Stories of Interest from the Hickman Courier from July 14, 1876 The first cotton bloom of the season in Fulton County was credited to Sassafras Ridge on July 1st. The crops in the “bottoms” south of Hickman were noted to have “never looked better for years” and Madrid Bend did not have enough farm workers to harvest crops.
