Stories of Interest from the Hickman Courier from October 12, 1872 Republican candidate Henry H. Houston and Fulton County Democrat H. A. Tyler debated before a crowded Hickman City Hall on the evening of October 5th. The debate lasted over three hours and discussed the effects of Reconstruction, civil service reform, and other political topics of the day.
