New Videos Now Available to Stream Online
Three presentations made to the Jackson Purchase Historical Society earlier this year are now available to view online.
The first is Historical Overview of Wickliffe Mounds: A Talk Given by Carla Hildebrand which was presented on May 21, 2022 at the Wickliffe Mounds State Historical Site. Ms. Hildebrand discussed the occupation of the site by the Mississippian culture of Native Americans, the American Revolution, the Lewis and Clark expedition, the Trail of Tears, and the development of the historic site as a tourist attraction in the 20th century.
The second is Drowned Towns: A Talk Given by Jayne Moore Waldrop which was presented at the Second Christian Church in Mayfield on July 16, 2022. Ms. Waldrop discussed the communities and people that were removed and relocated from the Land between the Lakes region of Western Kentucky following the construction of dams on the Tennessee and Cumberland Rivers.
And the third is Ellis Wilson: A Talk Given by Jayne Moore Waldrop which was also presented at the Second Christian Church in Mayfield on July 16, 2022. Ms. Waldrop and Michael J. McBride discussed the publication and illustrations of a forthcoming children’s book on African American artist from Mayfield Ellis Wilson.
