    Celebrate the Art of Helen LaFrance: A Special Tour on March 29th

    The Jackson Purchase Historical Society (JPHS) and the Paducah Historical Preservation Group (PHPG) are partnering to offer a special tour of the Helen LaFrance Collection. The PHPG recently acquired a significant number of LaFrance’s paintings as part of its effort to preserve African American history and culture in the Jackson Purchase. JPHS wants its members and others who support its mission, as well as the many historical organizations in western Kentucky, to have an opportunity to view this impressive collection.     Deadline to Submit Manuscripts for the Journal is May 1st

    THE DEADLINE FOR THE 2025 ISSUE IS MAY 1, 2025 The editor and the editorial board of the Journal of the Jackson Purchase Historical Society welcomes submissions of manuscripts related to the history of the Jackson Purchase region for possible publication in the Journal. The Jackson Purchase, which encompasses most of west Tennessee and southwest Kentucky, was added to the United States in 1818 through a treaty with the Chickasaw Indians. Manuscripts of articles, annotated documents, and interviews related to the Jackson Purchase will be considered for publication in the Journal.
