It has become customary in the Society to send an end of year letter that discusses in a very general way what the society has done in the year that is ending and to outline plans for the year ahead. As everyone is painfully aware the last two years have been unusual, to understate the situation. Our plans, as well intentioned as they were, never quite came to fruition as intended. The Jackson Purchase Historical Society is pleased to announce the publication of Volume 49 of its Journal. The society was founded in 1958. During the last sixty plus years, it has played an important role in the life of the Jackson Purchase region due to the diligent efforts of its members to preserve the area’s past.
