JPHS President Bill Mulligan reported on a very successful meeting on Saturday, November 3rd for the Jackson Purchase Historical Society. Reelfoot Lake State Park is at the western edge of our service area, but a very good turn out. Lots of familiar faces; lots of new people, too. David Hayes discussed the early history of the region and its development after the lake was formed. The JPHS will meet on Saturday, November 3rd in the historic Reelfoot Lake area. At 10:30 am, members and guests will meet in the Ellington Auditorium in the Visitor Center at Reelfoot Lake State Park located at 2595 Hwy 21 E in Tiptonville, Tennessee. Speaking will be David G. Hayes of Union City, Tennessee, who has written an early history of the people and places of western Obion and present day Lake County, entitled The Historic Reelfoot Lake Region.
