    Stories of Interest from the Hickman Courier from July 18, 1874 C. Catlett took charge of the Eagle Flouring Mills at Hickman and declared that he would pay the highest market price for wheat. The Steam Mill of Harrison & Frick near Hickman was destroyed by fire on July 13th. The total loss was estimated at $2,500. The Dry Goods Store of Rice & Brother offered ten percent off on all cash purchases, which was considered a “new feature in trade.” W.     Bob Jost to Speak on the Trail of Tears at the Inland Waterways Museum on July 20th

    The Jackson Purchase Historical Society will meet at the Inland Waterways Museum as part of their joint History on the River occasional series of programs on July 20. The meeting will begin at 10:30 am at the Museum at 117 South Water Street in Paducah. The program will be presented by Bob Jost who will discuss his extensive research on the Trail of Tears, especially the Water Route, which went down the Tennessee River and then west on the Ohio.
