Hickman County History and the battle of Columbus-Belmont are the focus of the Jackson Purchase Historical Society meeting Saturday, July 16, in Clinton, Kentucky.

At the quarterly meeting of the Jackson Purchase Historical Society Saturday, members and guests will hear a presentation on the History of Hickman County in the morning, followed by a picnic lunch at Columbus-Belmont State Park. The meeting begins at 10:30 AM Saturday, July 16th, at the Hickman County Historical and Genealogy Society, 107 S. Washington St., on the court square in Clinton.

Members and guests may bring their own lunch, or purchase it at the state park snack bar. After lunch, JPHS President Bill Mulligan, Professor of History at Murray State University, will give a brief talk about Columbus, Kentucky during and after the Civil War and conduct a tour of the park.
